New Restaurants in Legian and Seminyak This Month
Legian and Seminyak were fast becoming the epicentre for epic new restaurants in Bali, this month’s lineup of hot new tables comes rolling in. A heady mixture of wild and wonderful new concepts right across the island, this month we have radical, retro, and psychedelic vibes in both Legian and Seminyak.
Warung Chickpea – Seminyak
An Ottolenghi-inspired Middle Eastern restaurant tucked away in the back streets of Seminyak, Warung Chickpea is not typical Indonesian warung. For starters, this fresh, healthy and downright delicious lunch spot is helmed by Australian chef Nick Philips, and this kitchen genius uses local produce, spices and charcoal grilling to whip up a spread of dishes designed to pick and choose from Nasi Campur-style. You won’t find any rich Rendang or oily Nasi Goreng here however. Instead, expect light and zesty marinated pomelo, a chilli, cauliflower and chickpea salad, charred broccoli and lemon tahini, and Turkish-style lamb kofta with pomegranate molasses. You’ll want to arrive early too, as lunches starts at 11.30am and lasts only until everything is sold out.
Brunch Club – Legian
If you are a sucker for a great brunch, well, welcome to the club. Brunch Club in Legian is where fellow pancake and coffee connoisseurs can gather to graze on all-time brunch favourites: Melbourne-style eggs, fluffy waffles, fruity smoothie bowls and smashed avo, alongside lunch staples like big burgers, toasted sarnies, loaded salads and pizzas. To really make the most of this munching marathon, the restaurant is a large, two-floor building dressed in traditional Balinese temple brick, concealing a Melbourne-style café downstairs. Wall murals are as colourful as the cocktails they serve, while a full length, spray-cooled roof terrace features a separate pizza kitchen for all-day grazing. And because no brunch is complete without great coffee, at Brunch Club you’ll also find carefully selected blends that have been expertly roasted on the island, served exactly as you take it.
The Pontiac Stardust – Seminyak
Described as a cosmic road trip through 1950s/60s Palm Springs, The Pontiac Stardust is a progressive cocktail bar inspired by the art and energy of mid-century modern Palm Springs. A culture not a concept, this wild and wonderful new bar is helmed by award-winning bartender, Beckaly Franks – the first female mixologist to win the prestigious 42 Below Cocktail World Cup, and owner of the multi award-winning Pontiac in Hong Kong. It goes without saying then, that the cocktails here are second to none try the P.O.G. Daiquiri or the Snake in the Grass if you don’t believe and the bar food is equally as epic. Inspired by food truck fare from California, Miami, Seattle and New York, expect to see a big Burger, the kielbasa sausage Dog, the Personal Pizza and Fries, loaded with Sriracha mayonnaise and parmesan. And did we mention, there’s also a vintage photo booth here, a transcendent soundtrack of desert rock meets upbeat bpm, and even a fairy-lit Teepee under the stars on the patio where the occasional reiki and tarot reading takes place. Welcome to The Pontiac Stardust.

SANA VIE VILLA, SEMINYAK, BALI by THE WANDERFULLY LOST
During our most recent trip to Bali, Cam and I had the blessing of staying at one of the most beautiful villas in Seminyak: Sana Vie Villa. I had been looking at this place online for so long before the trip and was so happy that we had the opportunity to stay there as it is totally gorgeous, take a look for yourself!
It is located very close to the central area of Seminyak, with countless restaurants, beach bars, boutiques and markets around to keep you busy. We hired a motorbike from the villa for our period of time there and it was just so easy to get around on, even though it was so tempting to spend our time lazing around the pool.
When we arrived at the villa we were presented with a tasty fresh coconut drink while we checked in and settled into our stunning room. I really love that places in Bali add these little extra touches to make your experience more enjoyable!
One of the things that had caught my eye about this villa were the cool floating breakfast trays! Waking up in the morning and having brekkie in the pool to cool off from the warmth of the balinese morning was so heavenly. We had to pay a little extra to have the floating tray each morning but it was SO worth it.

BALI TRAVEL BLOG : SANA VIE VILLA
Whenever I go to Bali I love to mix up my accommodation and spend some time in hotels as well as villas. I’ve talked about it before and I’m still cant decide which type of accom I like more. During this trip I spent a couple of nights staying at the Sana Vie Villa, click the link below to read more about the villa & my stay.
Sana Vie Villa is located in Seminyak, its a little bit of a walk out of the main Seminyak square area so I would recommend making use of the Villa’s shuttle service (or hiring a scooter which you can do from reception). The villa feels like its brand new, and they’ve really put a lot of thought into the facilities and design (there’s even a tv in the toilet). Sana Vie is a massive one bedroom villa, that has a huge bedroom area with two couches with a walk through wardrobe to the bathroom & semi outdoor shower. There is a little kitchen area and deck outside, with the swimming pool in the middle. The hammock located over the pool towards the back of the villa was the perfect little resting spot.
The villa offers a wide range of breakfast options, including the popular “floating breakfasts” which are popping up all over Instagram, I 10/10 recommend you try this option at least once. I had the waffles both mornings because they were so yum! I also stayed in one night and had room service, the chicken pad Thai was delicious!!
Sana Vie Villa also offer some super cute stuff as well as the floating breakfast such as hiring big floaties for your pool or arranging flower baths, candles, champgane & flowers for those planing a romantic proposal (don’t worry I’m still single). I had a cute little flower bath by the pool, which you can see in the photo above

6 Great Apps For Your Bali Trip
Apps to help you in Bali
Here’s a shortlist of great apps to have for your trip to Bali, ranging from those that help you in booking the right Bali hotel that fits your budget and preferences, map apps to help you navigate your way from the beach to a nearby bar or restaurant, to apps that will help you be an instant billionaire (or more accurately, offer you currency exchange rates into rupiah). These apps are available for both Android and iPhone users, from either Google’s Play Store or Apple’s App Store on iTunes, respectively. You can easily and freely install and try them out before your trip, too. For mobile internet in Bali, don’t expect (free) Wi-Fi access with blazing speeds to be present everywhere. It’s a great idea to switch your smartphone’s home SIM card to a prepaid local network provider’s – it’s much cheaper. Reliable providers with widest coverage are Indosat and Telkomsel (with 4G speeds available). Preloaded SIMs with call and data credit values start from IDR 100,000 (USD 8) and are widely sold at the airport, convenience stores and supermarkets. These come in Standard SIM sizes, mostly with convenient pop-out options for both Micro and Nano SIMs as well.
While you can easily browse through our Bali portal for the best selection of hotels in Bali, be it a luxury 5-star resort in Nusa Dua, a budget guesthouse in Ubud or a well-appointed villa in Seminyak, you can browse through the whole Hotels.com inventory of hotels on the dedicated mobile app, available for both Android and iOS. The Hotels.com app is fast and simple, allowing you to plan your next Bali holiday with variety of filtering options. By logging in, you can save your hotel preferences, and even further benefit by getting exclusive deals or rewards. Most importantly, your bookings are secure.
Navigation apps are aplenty, with many preferring Google Maps over any other available. However, Waze is a great community driven alternative which provides turn-by-turn navigation, with great emphasis on real and live routing input by real drivers who can share information on current traffic jams, detours (which are frequent in Bali), and many others. Waze also has social network integration, so you can also send live updates with your ETA to friends, who have already arrived at the beach club, for instance.
This transport and delivery app was started up by Indonesian developers and is widely used, with over 250,000 motorcycle taxi drivers. You can order a motorcycle taxi or conventional taxi ride (GoJek expanded their services by collaborating with Blue Bird, a reputable taxi operator in Indonesia), browse through the great selection of restaurants and businesses with food delivery right to your villa. You can create a shopping checklist for groceries, and even order a spa therapist for your in-villa treatment, too! English language is an available option.
4. Google Translate
Knowing some simple local phrases can get you out of tight situations, such as asking for directions or haggling at the art market. This web-based mobile app simplifies the user experience of the desktop version. Although the translation of long contexts can result in weird sentences most of the time, you can always get your way with the closest approximate Indonesian phrases to score a good bargain for that nice painting or knick-knack that caught your eye.
5. XE Currency
When you need to change your dollars into rupiah, this app can be quite handy in finding out the most current global rates out there. You can convert any currency with XE Currency. The app can store your last updated search, and its conversions can still work if you lose your data signal. You can personalise your settings, set the frequency of live rate updates, and even create alerts so you keep notified as you go. It’s especially good to use to compare what’s being offered at the currency exchange chart. Don’t worry, discrepancies in tens or hundreds of rupiah is still acceptable.
6. MSW Surf Forecast
Many come to Bali for the world class surf… and this mobile app is just great for getting up-to-date info. From Magic Seaweed, one of the most reliable and updated worldwide surf reports, this app provides you with detailed surf forecasts in almost every popular surfing destination around the globe – Bali included. Forecasts include surf ratings, swell sizes, periods and wave heights, wind strength and directions, and temperature. Above all, there’s forecast accuracy in percentages, and you can sneak peek what it’ll be like in up to a week, so you can easily plan ahead before taking your board.
